Mya Rose

Mya Rose is an indie folk-rock singer-songwriter, guitarist and sailor whose music is closely tied to North Carolina’s Outer Banks. After years of performing from large stages to street corners in the United States and abroad, she made Ocracoke part of both her home base and creative process. Her soulful vocals, acoustic guitar and rootsy songwriting blend folk, rock, blues and a hint of country.

Rose wrote, recorded and produced “breaking free,” with part of the album captured aboard her 30-foot O’Day sailboat, Risky Business. She followed with “Sailin’ South,” recorded aboard a Pearson sailboat in Ocracoke Harbor, and later released “Cruising and Traveling.” Her songs draw on island life, travel, freedom and the sea, and her live repertoire moves between originals and reworked folk, country, reggae and classic-rock material.
