Sam on Sax

Sam Smith, known professionally as Sam on Sax, is a Hatteras Island–based tenor saxophonist, vocalist, bandleader, and touring musician from North Carolina’s Outer Banks. Her work moves easily through jazz, rock and roll, blues, funk, soul, and jam music. She fronts the OBX band Funkamongus, tours with Dale and the ZDubs, and has contributed studio performances to artists including Bumpin Uglies and The Voice winner Huntley. Whether appearing as an artist-at-large, featured soloist, or fronting a full band, Sam brings improvisation, melodic punch, and high-energy audience connection to the stage.
