The Unsustainables

The Unsustainables are a Carrboro, North Carolina–based ensemble devoted to traditional ska, rocksteady, and reggae. Inspired by the classic sounds of Studio One, Treasure Isle, and Black Ark Studios, the band moves from heavy dance-floor grooves to the sweeter melodies of lovers rock, with jazz-informed horn lines and a strong sense of community at the center of its shows. Founded by Will Vizuete with guitarist Nuno Gomes, the group grew around trombonist, singer, and principal songwriter Trent Jackson and a full rhythm-and-horns lineup, carrying the spirit of 1965–1975 Jamaican music into original North Carolina songs.
