Tim Smith Band

If you're a music fan and have lived around Central North Carolina for any amount of time, chances are you've seen Tim Smith playing his saxophone or heard his sweet voice singing somewhere. Be it on the sidewalks of downtown Chapel Hill, or an episode of Sesame Street, Tim's musical talents have made him a well known face in the Triangle area. Having have fun doing what he loves brought Smith to start giging with other local legends in The Countdown Quartet.

Word got out about Tim's natural knack for musicality, skill level back it up and just as local favorites hit multi- platinum status, he became a member of the fabulous The Squirrel Nut Zippers. Smith's first area band was Jazure, a local jazz trio that incuded Kevin Van Sant and Doug Largent. They participated in the Sister Cities Program, traveling to Saratov, Russia with a group of 12 musicians from Chapel Hill/Carrboro.

Later,In his quest to play more diverse music Smith joined the Jumpstarts, (a reggae-Rocksteady band) as well as The Platinum Heavyweights, rock regae band The High & Mighties, and eventually the Punky Ska outfit, Regatta 69. Now Tim Smith leads his own Tim Smith Band, drawing folks egar to soak up the good vibes of his original world-beat infused roots music. His sound is of beautiful harmonic layers atop a goove that will fill your shoes with dancin' feet.
